What does it really mean for Kenya to be awarded the “Safer Tourism” seal by the Rebuilding Travel Group on Wednesday 26th August 2020?
It is a major boast for the Countries Tourism Industry which has been grappling with the negative impact from the Covid-19 since early this year. (2020). That also mean that the country become the first under the sun to be awarded the seal and that not only build a lot confidence to the International Tourists to travel into Kenya but also elevate the countries level amongst the other touristic destinations across the country.
Kenya’s Tourism and wildlife Cabinet Secretary Hon. Najib Balala received the award in a Virtual event that was attended by global Tourism leaders under the Rebuilding travel umbrella, a global pro tourism industry group composed of members of Tourism boards, ministers of Tourism, professional associations, industry stakeholders, academics and researchers. While receiving the award, Hon. Najib Balala noted that the award had just come at a time that the country was working hard to bring both local and International tourism back after the abrupt interruption from March 2020.
Kenya remains the economic giant of East and Central Africa and Tourism remains the country’s second foreign income earner.
The country boasts wildlife, warm beaches and a M.I.C.E destination hosting numerous International Conferences and workshops annually.
The geographical location of the country offers the country an added advantage as the climate is deemed favorable through the year. All these products plus the naturally accommodative population makes the country a Tourist destination for a big percentage of travelers ready to explore the East Africa region.
The global tourism has been negatively affected while it is the local tourism that it is already showing very positive signs of getting back on its feet sooner with the easing of the Country’s lock down measures that were earlier set by the National government.
While we are very keen to follow up all the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Tourism and wildlife set safety guidelines, we also encourage all who will be travelling with us soon to observe the above-mentioned measures to keep all of us safe. Kenya is the Country to travel to and the time to travel is NOW!
